A history in motion
Farid’s history is one of industrial vision. Founded as an Italian engineering company, it has evolved into a global leader in the environmental equipment sector.
This steady growth has transformed specialist expertise into Europe’s largest industrial group in the sector.

1963
Origins in Turin
Farid’s history has its roots in Italy’s automotive capital.
Building on the legacy of Orecchia & Scavarda — a long-established Fiat and Iveco dealership — Orecchia & Co. was founded., specialising in refrigerated trucks and heavy-duty construction dumpers. The company quickly became synonymous with mechanical quality in the Italian industrial landscape.

1970 – 1999
A strategic turning point
In the early 1970s, the acquisition of the bodybuilder Farid marked a change in direction.
From the mid-1980s onwards, the company focused its efforts on waste collection and transport equipment — looking beyond the domestic market from the outset with a distinctly European vision.
This strategic assessment led to the development of Farid’s first product range dedicated to urban sanitation.

2000 – 2009
Expansion and consolidation
To compete on a global scale, Farid embarked on a targeted acquisition strategy, bringing leading Italian manufacturers (Brivio and Valle Teiro) together under a shared vision. This period helped establish Farid as the domestic market leader in waste collection vehicle equipment.

2010 – 2018
Internazionalizzazione

2019 – Presente
The merger with Faun-Zoeller
In 2019, the Faun-Zoeller Group acquired a majority stake in Farid, creating Europe’s largest industrial hub for waste collection equipment.
An integration that does not erase the individual histories of the companies involved, but amplifies them — bringing decades of mechanical engineering heritage into the smart systems of tomorrow.
